Base Camp Series selections are for first year players. Rhythms and pitches are limited to those that are contained in most introductory level method books.

Mountain Climber Series pieces are for developing musicians. Selections may include the use of dotted rhythms, "low 2" finger patterns for violin and viola, and minimal shifting in the cello and bass parts.

Timberline Series compositions are for students who have mastered basic literacy skills. Extended finger patterns and more difficult rhythms, time signatures and bowings are used. Pieces may contain some shifting in the violin 1 (3rd position), cello (2nd and 3rd positions) and bass (half, 2nd and 3rd positions) parts.

Peak Performer Series selections are written for mature musicians who have a solid understanding of rhythms, key signatures, bowings and time signatures.
